NUTSHELL:

I’m 47 and still enjoy a good punch bag workout. I love playing PC games, reading, drawing with my 9 year-old daughter and bringing ideas to life from concept to their final rollout. I enjoy creating products that people can actually use and get a meaningful experience from. I design using various software and I'm very comfortable jumping between my design tools to get the job done. Usually I'll start a design by doodling to wrap my mind around the process I'm going to use before I commit to my software.

Coastal Voice Magazine | Multimedia Designer

January 2024 - Present

Here I create social media posts and design the online magazine and its advertising. I also maintain the Coastal Voice website. I manage their social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram) and create static and animated posts for their social media. I'm responsible for all their design work from digital to printing. I'm directly involved with their marketing.

Daily Dispatch | Graphic Designer/Pagination

December 1998 - July 2022

I was responsible for creating adverts for the newspaper for close to a decade. Later I became a senior paginator and filled this role for another decade. I was responsible for designing the news pages and making sure they stayed within the brands style across all broadsheet and tabloid pages (News, Features, Opinions, Entertainment and Sports). I also assisted with sub-editing of the stories. The last two years of my tenure with Daily Dispatch I was responsible for designing entertainment activities like crosswords, word searches etc. and infographics. Part of my duties with this part was photo manipulation and colour correction of pictures as well as managing the sourcing of pictures for the newspaper. During my twenty seven years of service I also helped out with other side hustles namely a magazine, The East Londoner and created various social media posts for a number of organizations within East London and King Williams Town, South Africa.
